CO-COORDINATORS

Hi! My name is Nikole, a second-year transfer student and one of this year’s co-coordinators for APSA’s 23rd Annual Benefit Show. The vision I hope to achieve for the Benefit Talent Show is that my co-coordinator and staff members can outreach to many Asian and Pacific-Islanders (API) in the hopes of finding performers, artists, filmmakers, etc. When choosing our theme ‘Re: Identity’, it aligns with my dream of having these successful API guest judges and aspiring artists in the faith that we can redefine what it means to identify yourself as an ‘Asian’ or ‘Pacific-Islander’ American. Through contact and exposure, hopefully others will be able to see the different aspects of culture, social, academic, and political issues that affect the API community.

Hi there! I’m Faustina Ngo, one of APSA’s Talent Show Co-coordinators this year. I’m only a first-year at UCSD, but I have goals to expand APSA and Talent Show’s recognition and impact for the local community. I envision Talent Show to be a huge event where everyone is buzzing about and enjoying themselves while supporting a good cause. API representation is extremely important since we are seen mostly as an invisible, unpolitical minority in America, and it is imperative we have our voices heard as diverse groups of Americans.

MEDIA

The media team works behind the scenes to maintain a positive online image of the committees and its planned events.

Our team is responsible for the creation and maintenance of a promotional website, an introduction video, photo shoots, interviews, and event banners.

Hello hello! I’m Nancy, one of the Media Committee leads for this year’s APSA Benefit Talent Show. I’m super excited for this event because it is so important for the Asian and Pacific Islander community to recognize and support each other, and for us to come together to fight for representation and visibility in the media industry. Hope to see you all at the show!
Hello! My name is Carl, co-lead for the Media Committee. Our team is in charge of creating a website to promote the talent show and help maintain event pages from the other committees. I joined this committee because I believe that it is important for Asian and Pacific Islanders to be represented fairly in the media and entertainment industry.

MARKETING

Hi, my name is Lily and I am this year's APSA's Benefit Talent Show's Marketing Committee lead! I am currently a third year visual media arts major. I joined the committee because I believe that it is important for Asian and Pacific Islanders to receive recognition on media platforms like other people! Our committee is in charge of advertising, and creating designs for the talent show.

Our marketing team for the talent show is in charge of making graphics to advertise for the talent show. We advertise for the talent show in various ways like: posting online, boothing on library walk, taping flyers around campus and in lecture halls and chalkboarding as well.

AUDITIONS

The auditions team works hard to recruit talents in UCSD for the talent show. We reach out to individual and performing arts teams and conduct an audition process. We also encourage art and video submissions to be displayed on the day of the talent show. Lastly, we also organize the fashion show component of the show.

Hi! I’m Yulin and I am one of the leads for the the Auditions committee. I joined the talent show planning committee because talent show is a fun night that serves a good cause. API representation is lacking in traditional media so it’s nice to have an alternative outlet that allows API talents to be displayed.
Hey everyone! I’m Diana and I am one of the leads for the Auditions committee of this year’s Benefit Talent Show. I joined this committee because I want to be a part of a team that advocates for API representation in media and encourage members in our community to showcase their talents.

PROGRAMMING

Hi, I’m Lina! The co-lead for Programming Committee. This year I also serve as Chair for APSA. The process of working together to put this show on for empowering each other and representing our identities is a beautiful thing. Like every year before, the traditions of talent show continues and our purpose grows stronger. I am really grateful to have been a part of APSA Annual Benefit Talent Show for the last 3 years.

As a Programming Committee we work on the agenda of the entire show! All the organization of acts, descriptions, and minute-by-minute is created by us. Prior to the show, we work on supporting each committee until auditions start rolling in. All the logistical purposes of the show- that’s us!

Yo! My name is Marco-Landon and I am one of the leads for the Programming committee. I am the current Political Action Awareness Coordinator (PAAC) and ecstatic to forge a year of our own-- together. This year I wanted to be part of something greater for the API community and this is where I found the place to be. I’m excited, let’s be excited together. Because we are stronger together.

HOSPITALITY

Hey, everyone! I’m Dylan, and I’m this year’s APSA’s Benefit Talent Show’s Hospitality Committee lead! I joined this committee because I wanted to help showcase the amazing talent that Asian and Pacific Islanders possess. I believe that it’s important to get involved in matters that affect who we are as people.

The Hospitality Committee is responsible for providing service to performers and audience members on the day of the benefit show. It is our duty to make sure that the performers are adhering to the rehearsal and performance schedule, as well as to make sure the audience’s needs are being met. Prior to the show, we work to assess the cultural, social, and political climate surrounding Asian and Pacific Islander representation by interacting with individuals around campus.

DECORATIONS

The decorations committee plans the look and aesthetics seen at the talent show. We aim to work in line with the theme, while highlighting aspects of the API community. We collaborate with the other committee members and volunteers during work parties, where we create the amazing decorations seen during the talent show. Also, as a thanks to our guest judges, we arrange gifts for each of them.

Hi!!! I’m Lien, one of the leads for Decorations committee. I was also a co-co for last year’s 22nd Annual Benefit Talent Show. So, this year I want to be part of the talent show again and so I joined the Decorations committee! It’s super cool to be part of a team that is advocating API in media, because there needs to be more non-stereotypical representations of us folks in the entertainment world!
Hi! I’m Sally, the other lead for the Decorations Committee! I’m currently APSA’s Communications & Media Coordinator and I joined the talent show planning committee because it’s a great opportunity to help build an event showcasing the Asian and Pacific Islander community. It’s great working together with everyone and making this amazing talent show happen.

SPONSORSHIP

Hi hi my name is Lisa, and I am the lead for the Sponsorship Committee! We are responsible for fundraisers, general event sponsorship, and donations. The API community doesn’t receive the representation in media it needs, so I want to work with others to help make this event a success for other creative minds who strive toward this goal.

Aligned with APSA’s ideals, the sponsorship committee has chosen a local nonprofit that promotes the awareness of our API identities and role in the community. We are also in charge of finding program sponsors, putting on fundraisers, and collecting donations.
